Text: Place Vendôme is a square in the 1st arrondissement of Paris located to the north of the Tuileries Gardens and east of the Église de la Madeleine. Its regular architecture and pedimented screens canted across the corners give the rectangular Place Vendôme the aspect of an octagon. Napoleon erected the present column to celebrate the victory of Austerlitz.

Text: Started to being built in 1875 it was not completed until 1914 and it was not consecrated until 1919. This Basilica, in Romano-Byzantine style, was build to accomplish a vow made in consequence of the extreme need of France and of the Church in 1870. Despite the obstacles encountered by the builders, work was brought thanks to a law passed by the National Assembly.

Text: The avenue runs 3 km through the 8th arrondissement in northwestern Paris, from the Place de la Concorde in the east, with its obelisk, to the Place Charles de Gaulle in the west, location of the Arc de Triomphe. The Champs-Elysées forms part of the line of the Axe historique. The name refers to the Elysian Fields, the place of the blessed in Greek mythology.
