Al Azhar Park-Cairo-Egypt

Text: Al-Azhar Park, with 30-hectare of lush green gardens, is located in the heart of old historic Cairo and commands stunning panoramic views of the city. The creation of the park undertaken created by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture. It houses the newly discovered Ayyubid wall, constructed by Salah El Din more than 800 years ago.

View of the Sultan Hassan Mosque-Cairo-Egypt

Text: The founder of this gigantic monument(1356-1363) was Sultan Hassan. This mosque is considered one of the largest, not only in Cairo but in the whole Islamic world. It is a massive structure measuring some 150 meters long and 36 meters high. It's tallest minaret is 68 meters tall.

Text: About five years into its construction, one of the minaret collapsed killing more than three hundred people. This was thought to be a bad omen and in 1361, Sultan Hassan was murdered, two years before the mosque was actually completed in 1363.
