Blue Mosque-Istanbul-Turkey

Text: In Sultanahmet Square. Built in the early 17th century by Sultan Ahmet I -1609-1619-. It takes its name from the mainly blue Iznik tilework. The plans provoked great hostility because a mosque with six minarets was considered a sacrilegious attempt to rival the Mecca.
