Grolimund Text: Ngaphechaung es un atractivo monasterio de madera construido sobre pilotes de madera sobre el lago a finales de 1850.Además de su colección de Budas,es visitado porque los monjes han amaestrado a unos cuantos gatos que viven con ellos para saltar a través de aros. Ngaphechaung is an attractive wooden monastery built on stilts over the lake at the end of the 1850s.Aside from its collection of Buddhas it is visited because its monks have taught a few of the many cats living with them to jump through hoops.

It is one of the famous principal shrines in Burma.It houses five small Buddha images very revered by the lake-dwellers.Once a year,in end Sept-early Oct.,there is a pagoda festival during which the images are rowed around the Lake in a colourful barge.

This mysterious place is one of the small villages of Inle Lake located on the western bank of the lake.Below the stupa around the hill are cluster of hundreds of ancient stupas,most of them ruins overgrown with bushes.
