Église Saint Étienne du Mont - Paris - France Author: Susana y Simón Text: The St. Etienne Parish was formed in the 6th century from the St. Geneviève Abbey and using the crypt of the abbey. In the 13th century, a separate church was built on the north side of the abbey.

Inside of the Musée d'Orsay Author: Susana y Simón Text: From 1900 to 1939, the Gare d'Orsay was the head of the southwestern French railroad network. After 1939, the station was to serve only the suburbs. In 1975, the Direction des Musées de France already considered installing a new museum in the train station, in which the arts from the second half of the 19th century would be represented.

Sainte Chapelle Rose Window - Paris - France Author: Susana y Simón Text: Built by Louis IX in the 1240's to house relics from the Holy Land believed to be the Crown of Thorns and part of the True Cross, this gothic chapel is one of the inspiring experiences of Paris. Much of this is due to its stained glass windows. The chapel itself is now surrounded by the Palais of Justice on the Ile de la Cité near Notre Dame.

Many artists, from Berlioz to Picasso, lived, worked, and played here. These creative spirits helped keep this area the city's intellectual and artistic center up until the first World War.

La Défense District -Paris- France Author: Susana y Simón Text: La Défense is a district of high-rise offices, apartment blocks and shopping complexes over part of the communes of Nanterre, Suresnes and Puteaux (all in the Hauts-de-Seine département), to the west of Paris. It is named for a statue, La Défense de Paris, commemorating the defence of Paris in the Franco-Prussian War.
